Patna: Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has arrested two more persons, including a trainee technician at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), in connection with the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) examination fraud. The examination was held in three phases in April 2026. The case was registered at Sohsarai police station in Nalanda on April 17, 2026.EOU officials said Raushan Kumar (22), a native of Noorsarai in Nalanda, was arrested from Mumbai, where he had been working at BARC since Dec 2024. Akash Kumar (25), a resident of Sohsarai, was arrested from Nalanda.According to the investigation, Raushan, Akash and their associates allegedly struck a Rs 25 lakh deal with the husband of an AEDO candidate to ensure she cleared the examination. The gang allegedly manipulated the biometric system at an examination centre in Nalanda by using fake identity cards to replace authorised biometric staff.Investigators alleged that the answer key was secretly passed to the candidate during the examination through a hologram slip.EOU DIG Manavjit Singh Dhillon said Raushan had also appeared in the same examination as a candidate at a centre in Motihari, where he allegedly managed the biometric staff. During interrogation, investigators found he had been running a solver gang for the past four to five years to help candidates clear competitive examinations.EOU also found evidence of Raushan’s alleged involvement in malpractice in several other recruitment examinations, including those conducted by the Central Selection Board, Bihar Technical Service Commission, BSSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission.Dhillon said Akash had also allegedly helped more than four candidates in the BPSC AEDO examination. EOU said further investigation into the biometric company, examination centres, solver gangs and financial transactions is underway.
