Chatra administration orders inquiry into Pratappur school building safety

Hazaribag: The Chatra administration has ordered a technical inquiry into the structural condition of the Plus II Model High School building in Pratappur block after falling plaster and visible cracks raised serious concerns over the safety of students and staff, officials said on Saturday. The building, constructed around three years ago at a cost of Rs 3.60 crore, came under scrutiny after plaster from the ceiling of the ground floor of its D-block collapsed earlier this week. However, no one was injured.In-charge principal Manoj Rajak said it was not an isolated case. “Plaster also fell from a first floor ceiling around 8 to 10 months ago. Despite repeated complaints to the contractor concerned, no effective repair work was undertaken,” he alleged, adding that the recurring incidents have created anxiety among students and teachers.
