Patna: Chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Saturday reviewed the progress of the Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane Ganga bridge project and asked engineers to ensure there is no laxity in the final phase of construction. He asked senior officials to monitor the work on a daily basis. The review comes after chief minister Samrat Choudhary directed the department to complete the remaining work by the first week of July.Amrit emphasised that all pending works should be completed within the stipulated timeframe while adhering to technical standards so that the route can be opened to the public at the earliest. He described the project as a major addition to Bihar’s transport infrastructure that would significantly improve connectivity between Patna and north Bihar.During the inspection, Amrit was accompanied by road construction department secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal and engineers of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited.Officials informed him that the project has entered its final stage, with work progressing rapidly while maintaining quality standards. Finishing works on the bridge, stressing of expansion joints and other technical activities are currently underway. The project involves the construction of a 19.76-km six-lane greenfield corridor connecting Kacchi Dargah on National Highway-30 in Patna district with Bidupur on National Highway-103 in Vaishali district. It comprises a 9.76-km bridge across the Ganga and nearly 10 km of approach roads.Officials said physical progress of the project has reached 98.2%. In the first phase, the 4.57-km stretch between Kacchi Dargah and Raghopur Diyara in Vaishali district has already been opened.Once fully operational, the bridge will connect Sabalpur in Patna with NH-103 at Bidupur and provide direct linkage to the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur bypass on NH-30, substantially easing travel between Patna and north Bihar.
