CISF secures renewal of quality management certification for IGI Airport

New Delhi: The CISF unit deployed at the Aviation Security Group has successfully secured renewal of the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification for security operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport.Officials said the renewal demonstrates not only sustained compliance with international quality standards but also continuous improvement in security management practices amid growing passenger volumes and evolving security challenges. The renewed certification is valid for three years, from April 14, 2026 to April 13, 2029. It covers the provision of comprehensive security services across terminals 1-3, cargo and operational areas at IGI Airport. To manage peak-hour rush, the Central Industrial Security Force has implemented proactive measures such as creating a new dedicated security zone (“zone 0”) inside Terminal 3, deploying extra personnel at entry gates, utilising digital count meters for real-time crowd management, coordinating with airlines for smooth baggage flow and eliminating hand baggage tag stamping, significantly reducing passenger processing time.“The CISF has popularised a passenger-friendly target-driven model where security teams actively trace and return left-behind items (such as passports, wallets, and mobile phones) to travellers directly before they fly. Additionally, the Airport Security Control Centre and social media monitoring systems ensure timely response to passenger queries and dissemination of travel advisories,” said an official.
