Kolkata: Nationalist Citizen Party of India (NCPI) MP and its Lok Sabha chief whip Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar on Wednesday called the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests in Jantar Mantar a “conspiracy” and appealed to citizens to stand by the govt. Meanwhile, exiled Bangladeshi author and human rights activist Taslima Nasrin expressed concern over student-led protests, drawing parallels with Bangladesh’s 2024 uprising, before deleting her social media post.“An appeal to every Indian to stand by #government of India and foil the conspiracy of anarchy and terrorism to destabilise our Nation. India’s heritage is unshakeable. It’s not a banana republic,” Ghosh Dastidar posted on X. Responding to TMC MP Derek O’Brien’s post describing a viral video of a Mumbai woman blocking a police van as “The power of the powerless”, she wrote, “Separatists are not powerless! They are empowered by anti-national forces.”Nasrin said the gathering at Jantar Mantar reminded her of Bangladesh’s July 2024 movement, which she claimed ultimately led to extremists gaining influence. “Since the July movement, seeing a student gathering anywhere fills me with apprehension… not all student gatherings are pro-democracy,” she wrote on Facebook before removing the post.
