Dumka: Five miscreants were arrested on charges of carrying 21.01 gm of brown sugar, estimated to be worth around Rs 4 lakh, besides Rs 5,400 in cash from near a newly constructed hospital at Tinghara village on the Hindolavaran-Tapovan road in Deoghar, SP Praveen Pushkar said on Friday.The accused, identified as Prafull Kumar, Bhim Rai, Jitendra Kumar, Lakhan Marandi, and Rahul Kumar, all from Mohanpur in Deoghar, were sent to judicial custody, police added.“Acting on inputs received about the sale and consumption of brown sugar in Hindolavaran and Simarjor areas, an SIT led by officer in-charge of the Mohanpur police station Sandeep Krishna conducted a raid and apprehended five persons from Hindolavaran,” SP Pushkar said.Prafull and Lakhan had been arrested in a brown sugar-related case early this year and were out on bail. “After coming out of jail on bail, they allegedly resumed their involvement in the drug trade,” he added.
