Devesh gets key post after making way for Deepak

Patna: The state govt on Monday appointed former BJP MLC Devesh Kumar as vice chairman of the Bihar State Planning Board.A notification to this effect was issued on Monday. Devesh recently resigned as an MLC to accommodate Deepak Prakash, son of Rashtriya Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha. Deepak had remained a minister for more than six months without being a member of either House of the legislature.The Supreme Court has issued notices to the state govt following a PIL challenging Deepak’s continuation as a minister. He was later nominated to the legislative council from the governor’s quota.Grandson of freedom fighter Pandit Yamuna Karjee, a close associate of Swami Shahjanand, Devesh has acted as a troubleshooter for the NDA and the govt. CM Samrat Choudhary rewarded him for upholding coalition ethics.A postgraduate in sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, Devesh is the BJP in charge of Mizoram.He contested the JNU Students’ Union election for president against Leftist student neta Chandrashekhar, who was later killed in Siwan. Devesh also served as BJP state spokesperson, vice president and state general secretary.
