Dhanbad: Allegations of irregularities at a govt primary school under Baliapur block surfaced during the public grievance hearing at the district headquarters on Friday. Acting on the directions of deputy commissioner Aditya Ranjan, additional collector Pradeep Kumar Shukla heard complaints from residents and instructed officials to take appropriate action.The mukhiya of Parsabania panchayat submitted a complaint against the school’s head teacher, alleging that students were not being provided proper midday meals and that academic activities were being neglected. The complaint said the lapses had led to a steady decline in student attendance.It further alleged that the head teacher was recording inflated student attendance in the school register. She was also accused of behaving rudely with parents and villagers.The complaint also raised serious financial irregularities. According to the allegations, the head teacher had retained the bank account documents and cheque book of the school management committee’s chairperson and convener and was allegedly obtaining their signatures on cheques without following due procedure.Taking note of the matter, Shukla directed the district superintendent of education to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit a detailed report at the earliest.Applications were also received from Tundi, Baliapur, Govindpur, Nirsa, Katras, Mahuda, Barmasia, Baghmara, Jharia, Sindri, Topchanchi and Dhanbad. Residents raised issues related to education, civic amenities, land disputes, welfare schemes and other public concerns, which were forwarded to departments concerned for necessary action.
