Dhanbad: The postal department on Wednesday received an email threatening to blow up the Dhanbad head post office at 1 pm, leading to immediate evacuation of the busy area for an extensive police search, but it turned out to be a hoax.Officers said the email was initially received by the Ranchi branch of the postal department. Acting swiftly after getting information, postal authorities ordered evacuation of the entire building. Within minutes, the post office complex was emptied, while a large crowd gathered outside.Subsequently, security personnel carried out a search operation. A dog squad was also engaged in service, and every section of the building was thoroughly inspected for explosives or any suspicious object. After the search ended, police confirmed that no explosive material or suspicious article was found inside the post office.Dhanbad police station officer in-charge Manoj Pandey said, “We have started a probe to trace the source of the email and its sender.”Earlier, the Dhanbad court premises had also received a bomb threat through email, but it turned out to be a hoax.
