Aurangabad: The driver of Dehri Municipal Council executive officer Vimal Kumar has been arrested for allegedly murdering his employer with a iron rod in Aurangabad district. Police claimed that the crime was triggered by resentment over excessive workload and repeated denial of leave. Vimal was a native of Sherghati in Gaya district.Addressing a news conference on Sunday, Magadh Range IG Vikas Vaibhav said that the accused, Mithilesh Kumar, confessed to the crime during interrogation after investigators found inconsistencies in his account of the incident.According to police, Vimal Kumar was travelling from Dehri to Patna in his official vehicle on Saturday evening after attending a function. His family lives in Patna. The vehicle stopped near Dehra Lock under Barun police station area, where the officer was allegedly killed at a secluded spot. His body was later recovered from the area after the driver informed the victim’s wife and others about it on the phone. Severe marks of assault a were found on his body.However, discrepancies in his version of events raised suspicion, prompting officers to detain and question him. During interrogation, Mithilesh allegedly told police that he was unhappy over a heavy workload and repeated denial of leave, which had led to frequent disputes with the executive officer. Police said another argument broke out during the journey to Patna. The accused allegedly stopped the vehicle on a pretext, picked up an iron rod kept inside the vehicle and repeatedly assaulted Kumar before disposing of the weapon in a nearby canal.Based on his disclosure, police recovered the iron rod believed to have been used in the crime. Mithilesh, a resident of Suara Kauwa Khonch locality under Dehri police station in Rohtas district, was arrested.An FIR has been registered at Barun police station on the statement of the victim’s wife, Babita Kumari. In her complaint, she alleged that the driver frequently misbehaved with her husband and had been warned that he could face removal from service. She claimed the murder was committed out of resentment over the proposed action. Police said further investigation is underway.
