ECR rebuts Rahul’s claim on job aspirant’s death

Patna: The East Central Railway (ECR) on Tuesday urged people not to spread rumours and misleading information, rejecting claims made in a viral social media post regarding the death of a job aspirant at Patliputra railway station in Patna.Reacting to a post on X shared by Congress functionary Rahul Gandhi, the ECR said the incident shown in the video did not occur at Patliputra station and that there was no confirmed information about any death.Rahul, while sharing the video, wrote, “This video shook me to the core. These are the helpless youth of an India whose govt squanders lakhs of crores on its billionaire friends, yet cannot even ensure a safe journey for its own students.” He also alleged severe overcrowding and unsafe travel conditions for students.Refuting the claims, the ECR said on X, “The incident in question did not take place at Patliputra Station. It is also clarified that there is no information from any source regarding the death of any individual. Please do not spread such rumours or misinformation. Based on the physical movements and condition of the person seen in the video, it appears prima facie that the individual was likely suffering from a medical issue or exhaustion-related malaise. Attributing this to death or a serious accident is inappropriate.”A large number of job aspirants had gathered at Patliputra railway station on the night of June 13 to travel to Bihar Police recruitment examination centres in north Bihar. Police later resorted to lathicharge after a group of youths allegedly pelted stones.
