Garhwa: Sub divisional magistrate Sanjay Kumar invited 50 daily wage workers over for coffee and heard their concerns ahead of the International Labour Day at his office on Thursday. The workers were also apprised about the labour welfare schemes of the govt during the meet. The SDM invited workers of unorganised sector in his office to hear their concerns and gather suggestions for their reforms. He has noticed that while people visit his office most of them hesitate to explain themselves freely, the SDM said.“The daily wage workers do hard work everyday from morning to evening. In such circumstances they cannot approach the administration with their individual, domestic or collective problems. The session focused on providing an informal platform from where they can openly share their grievances, complaints and suggestions,” he added.During the session, detailed information about various labour welfare schemes launched by the govt was provided to the workers. The SDM urged the workers to ensure their registration on Shramadhan Portal before migrating to other states looking for jobs. After registration on the said portal, workers will be eligible for direct financial assistance in case of natural disasters, road accidents, disability, etc. On the occasion, 15 workers were provided labour cards on the spot and 10 new workers were registered.
