Dumka: A 30-year-old man died by suicide after allegedly attacking his estranged wife with a knife in Jharkhand’s Godda district on Thursday, police said.The woman, identified as Anjali Devi (24), suffered an injury to her neck and was admitted to Godda Sadar Hospital. Her condition is stable, police added.The deceased, Mithilesh Kumar Manjhi, was a resident of Siyardih village under Pathargama block. The couple has two children.According to police, Manjhi attacked Anjali while she was transplanting paddy in Kubji village under Mufassil police station limits. She had been living with her parents there for more than a year following a marital dispute.Anjali was taken to hospital in an unconscious state. Manjhi died by suicide shortly after the attack. His body was sent to Godda Sadar Hospital for a postmortem examination.Mufassil police recorded Anjali’s statement at the hospital.“Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. Further investigation is underway,” inspector Madhusudhan Modak said.
