Patna: The state govt has increased its wheat procurement target. Following approval from the Centre, the state has raised the procurement target from 18,000 metric tonnes to 1,80,000 metric tonnes.According to the revised plan, 1,30,000 metric tonnes of wheat will be procured through PACS and trade mandals while 50,000 metric tonnes will be procured through the FCI. The procurement process has already commenced since April 1, and it will continue till June 15 at the MSP fixed at Rs 2,585 per quintal.Officials said the substantial increase in the procurement target is aimed at ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their produce while also boosting their income.The food and consumer protection department has revised district-wise procurement targets based on production estimates provided by the agriculture department. District officials have been directed to implement the revised targets on a priority basis and ensure smooth execution of procurement operations.
