Hazaribag: A government school teacher was killed after being hit by an out-of-control trailer on GT Road within Barkatha police station limits in Hazaribag on Friday, police said.The deceased was identified as Chandrashekhar Azad, a resident of Gaiyapahari village. He was travelling to an upgraded school in Mayurhand block of Chatra district, where he worked, when the accident took place around 6 am near Sankrej.Police said the impact was severe. Locals alerted the police and informed the victim’s family soon after the incident. Relatives reached the spot shortly afterward.Family members said Azad had been preparing for his niece’s wedding, scheduled for May 7. The incident plunged the family into mourning.The family has suffered multiple losses in recent years. Azad’s brother and a niece died in a road accident in 2019, while his nephew was killed in another accident at Sindoor Chowk in Hazaribag on January 13 this year.Several local representatives, including MLA Amit Kumar Yadav, visited the spot and expressed condolences.Barkatha circle officer Naveen Bhushan Kullu said the body had been sent for postmortem and further investigation was underway. Police are searching for the trailer and its driver.
