Patna: Governor-cum-chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain on Friday reviewed the academic and administrative functioning of B N Mandal University, Madhepura, at Lok Bhavan and directed the authorities to take urgent steps to improve the quality of education and ensure timely delivery of student services.The governor stressed the need to fill vacancies of teaching and non-teaching staff in universities at the earliest. He also called for setting up a state-level grievance redressal cell to address employees’ problems and ensure their speedy resolution.The governor directed that workshops on NAAC accreditation be organised for all college principals to help institutions strengthen academic standards and prepare effectively for assessment and accreditation. He appreciated the academic achievements of B N Mandal University.He laid emphasis on timely payment of salaries and pensions to teachers and employees, regularisation of academic sessions and issuance of degrees and other academic certificates to students within the prescribed time frame.Vice-chancellor Vimlendu Shekhar Jha briefed the governor on the university’s academic and administrative initiatives, including human resources, infrastructure development, central library, study centres, research and development, financial management, digital systems and e-governance.The VC also highlighted activities under the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.Additional chief secretary to the governor Dipak Kumar Singh and senior officials of B N Mandal University and the governor’s secretariat attended the meeting.
