Ranchi: Jharkhand high court on Friday appointed former HC judge Justice Gautam Choudhary to oversee and monitor the CID investigation into the alleged irregularities in Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations.A division bench of Justice Deepak Roshan, hearing several petitions filed by employees appointed to govt posts after clearing JPSC and JSSC examinations, continued the earlier stay on the termination of their services.On Aug 18, state govt had issued a notification cancelling the JPSC and JSSC examinations. The move affected the services of several successful candidates who were working as govt employees. Around 2,700 employees were removed from their posts following the notification.The high court observed that the appointment process of the JPSC and JSSC may have been rigged and that some candidates could have secured govt jobs illegally. However, it said all appointments could not be presumed to be illegal and that removing all employees “with a single stroke” was not permissible.State govt filed its counter affidavit in the case before the court on Friday, which was received by the bench. The court also ordered that any candidate summoned by the CID’s special investigation team who feels harassed can approach the committee headed by Justice Choudhary.The matter will be heard next on Oct 7.
