Patna: The Patna high court on Monday dismissed the plea of former RJD legislator Ritlal Yadav seeking his transfer from Bhagalpur central prison to Beur jail in Patna.A single bench of justice Alok Kumar Pandey passed the order while dismissing a criminal writ petition filed by Ritlal.The former RJD legislator had been booked in a case accusing him of grabbing public land, extorting builders and committing money laundering. In connection with the case, Ritlal was lodged as an undertrial prisoner at Beur jail in the state capital.On April 30 last year, the state govt ordered his transfer from Beur to Bhagalpur central prison.Subsequently, by another order dated Oct 30, 2025, the transfer was extended for a further six months, resulting in his continued incarceration at Bhagalpur prison till April 30 this year.Ritlal challenged the Oct 30 order, questioning the legal competence of the additional inspector general (AIG) prisons posted in the state’s home department. The high court, however, dismissed his plea.Standing counsel Kinkar Kumar appeared on behalf of the state govt in the case.
