Kolkata: IIT Kharagpur, which introduced alternative admission pathways apart from the usual JEE Advanced route for its BTech and BS programmes, have admitted 15 students in its BTech courses through Sports Excellence Admission (SEA) and Science Olympiad Excellence Admission (SCOPE) in this academic year. “Twelve students have got admission with science olympiad achievements and three have secured their spots through SEA. The institute has welcomed a student under the sports category who is a national lawn tennis player,” said director Suman Chakraborty.The lawn tennis player, Sohini Chatterjee, is a student from Newtown School, Kolkata, and has secured admission in the computer science and engineering department of IIT Kharagpur.The director announced that 10 students will be awarded BTech pass degrees at the convocation on Saturday.
