Interview for more than 8k aspirants for assistant professor to begin from today

Patna: In a record of sorts, more than 8,000 aspirants for contractual assistant professor jobs in Bihar are to be interviewed by the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) in just five days, starting Monday.In an unprecedented exercise, the BSUSC has constituted as many as 68 interview boards, comprising around 300 experts, to interview all the aspirants for appointment to 2,532 assistant professor posts in six subjects, namely sociology, political science, economics, Hindi, English and history.As per the statutory provisions, besides the candidates’ performance in the interview, the boards will also evaluate the aspirants’ teaching skills. The interview for the appointment of contractual teachers shall carry 12 marks, including six marks for the personal interview and six marks for teaching skills. The entire teaching demonstration by each candidate before the interview board shall be mandatorily video-recorded to ensure fairness and transparency, the statute provides.BSUSC chairman Girish Kumar Chaudhary pointed out that the commission is working overtime to meet the deadline for completing the appointment process for assistant professors in all 211 newly started govt degree colleges at the block level across the state. The posts were advertised on the Samarth Portal on July 3, with July 15 being the last date for submission of online applications. More than 40,000 applications were received, out of which more than 8,000 applicants were shortlisted for interviews in a record time of just two days.The interviews shall be held in two shifts daily from July 20 onwards at three different centres in the state capital under tight security arrangements, the chairman said.All the newly recruited teachers appointed on contract will be posted to their respective colleges soon after the completion of the interviews and preparation of subject-wise panels. The new academic session in all the newly started degree colleges has already been inaugurated by chief minister Samrat Choudhary.
