Ranchi: Ranchi senior superintendent of police (SSP) suspended an investigating officer (IO) of Dhurwa police station after a 43-year-old allegedly died by suicide on Monday in the police station’s jurisdiction.Ranchi SP, Paras Rana, said that the deceased, identified as Pradhan Yadav, engaged in a minor brawl with one of his neighbours around a week ago. “Yadav in his suicide note wrote that following the brawl, both the parties agreed not to lodge FIR. However, the other party lodged an FIR against Yadav on June 11 after which Jitendra Nath Tudu, the IO, issued a notice to Yadav, asking him to present his version on the matter,” Rana said.The city SP added that the deceased then afraid of action from police allegedly died by suicide at his home on Monday. “The investigating officer of the case has been suspended by the Ranchi SSP following his death,” Rana said.The relatives of the deceased staged protest outside Dhurwa police station, accusing the police.
