Jharkhand Weather Alert: Thunderstorm, Lightning, Gusty Winds Expected

Ranchi: The Met office on Saturday issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) at isolated places over the state, with such conditions likely to prevail for the next few days.For Monday, theMet issued an orange warning of thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) accompanied with hailstorms at isolated places over northeastern and adjoining central parts of the state. It said that thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places over the state on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.Weather officials said that for the time being, there are no chances of temperatures rising too much or heatwave-like conditions.“An east-west trough runs from northeast Madhya Pradesh to Manipur across Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Bangladesh and south Assam at 0.9 km above mean sea level. An upper air cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh now lies over north Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal between 1.5 and 3.1 km above mean sea level, with a trough extending from 4.5 to 9.4 km above mean sea level. These systems are triggering thunderstorm, lightning and at times hailstorms in isolated parts of the state,” said Abhishek Anand, scientist and deputy director of Ranchi Met office.In the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Saturday, the state received light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm at isolated places. The highest rainfall of 41.2 mm was recorded at Manjhari (West Singhbhum). The highest maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius was recorded at Daltonganj, while the lowest temperature of 16.3C was reported at Namkum in Ranchi district. The highest temperature in Ranchi was 33.6C, while the lowest temperature was 19C.
