JSR civic body razes 6 illegal shops at Bhalubasa Chowk

Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) on Thursday demolished six shops in an anti-encroachment drive at Bhalubasa Chowk.Acting on directives issued by deputy commissioner Rajiv Ranjan to remove unauthorised shops and illegal roadside parking across the city, JNAC deputy town commissioner Krishna Kumar said, “Three teams have been constituted to carry out the anti-encroachment drive.Traders alleged that several illegal shops and encroachments exist along the Sakchi-Sidhgora Road, but the administration selectively targeted only six shops. They also insisted that no further action should be taken until the court issues its order in the matter.An affected vendor, Sanjay Sao, who is the sole breadwinner of the family, said, “I have been running the shop at the location for the past 50 years. I received two notices from the JNAC and submitted my responses.”Another shopkeeper, Atis Kumar Sonkar, claimed, “I have been operating the shop at the site for over three decades. JNAC demolished the shop without prior notice. Several others are similarly affected.”On June 16, district transport officials, in coordination with the traffic police, removed unauthorised parking near Bistupur-based PM Mall. A day earlier, municipal officials demolished unauthorised shops at Sakchi Market, while traffic police seized more than a dozen motorcycles parked in no-parking zones in the area.District transport officer (DTO) Dileep Kumar said, “The drive against illegal parking would be intensified in the coming days.”
