Kayalvizhi Alagiri booked for slapping SBI branch manager in Chennai’s Adyar
Kayalvizhi visited the bank branch on July 20, got into an argument with the branch manager and slapped him on the cheek.

CHENNAI: The Adyar police in Chennai registered a case against Kayalvizhi Alagiri, daughter of former Union minister M K Alagiri and granddaughter of late Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi, on charges of slapping the manager of a State Bank of India’s NRI branch following an argument over a malfunctioning lift in her commercial building.Kayalvizhi owns a commercial property in Adyar where the SBI NRI branch is situated. Branch manager Harshin Singh had complained to the property maintenance person about a malfunctioning lift in the building. As the issue remained unresolved, Singh escalated the complaint to Kayalvizhi.Kayalvizhi visited the bank on July 20. She got into an argument with Singh over the lift issue and slapped him on the cheek. The incident was captured on CCTV.

Singh informed the bank’s senior officials about the incident and shared the CCTV footage with them. Chief manager of SBI NRI branch Namachivayam lodged a complaint with the Adyar police.The CCTV footage was circulated on social media platforms on Saturday, following which the Adyar police registered a case against Kayalvizhi for intimidation and assault. Further investigations are on.
