Koderma: In a major crackdown on criminals and long-time fugitives, Koderma police arrested 43 warrants and absconding accused from various police station areas during a districtwide overnight operation on Friday, officials announced on Saturday.The special drive was conducted under the ongoing “Operation All Out” and was directly monitored by Koderma SP Kumar Shivashish. Among those arrested was Bandhu Mehta, a resident of Nawadih under Domchanch police station limits, who was evading arrest for nearly 20 years.Police also apprehended two other key fugitives, Suresh Singh and Ashok Singh of Jorasimar, who remained on the run for the last 14 years. The operation yielded significant results across the district, with the highest number of arrests reported from Markacho and Domchanch, where seven accused were arrested from each area.

The latest crackdown is part of a sustained campaign launched by Koderma police in April this year to track down absconders and curb criminal activities across the district.Speaking to TOI, the SP said the district police were following a strict zero-tolerance policy towards crime and were committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents. He said, “The campaign has been designed to systematically trace and arrest warrants and absconding accused who managed to evade law enforcement for years.”According to police records, a total of 143 absconding accused were arrested in three phases of the operation since its launch.A district-wise breakup of the arrests shows the widest impact in Telaiya police station area, which accounted for 37 arrests, followed by Domchanch (20), Chandwara (19), Nawalshahi (13), Koderma (13), Jainagar (12), Markacho (11), Telaiya Dam OP (10) and Satgawan (8).The SP reiterated that the police would continue conducting targeted operations until crime was brought under complete control.
