Maharashtra man dies after slipping between train and platform at Bokaro station
After the train was halted, railway staff pulled Bholwani out but a doctor declared him dead

Bokaro: A 63-year-old man from Maharashtra died after slipping into the gap between a moving train and the platform at Bokaro railway station on Friday morning. He was on his way to Gaya to perform ‘pind daan’ for his father during Pitripaksh.The deceased was identified as Suresh Kumar Bholwani, a resident of Gondia district in Maharashtra. He was travelling with his two nephews on the Cherlapally-Patna special train.The incident occurred around 9:17 am on platform number 1, shortly after the train began moving. Bholwani had reportedly got down to buy a bottle of water and tried to reboard the train when he lost balance and fell between the coach and the platform.Woman constable M Jina Patro, who was deployed on the platform, saw him trying to board the moving train and rushed to help. Before she could reach him, part of his body got trapped. She immediately alerted railway personnel and helped initiate efforts to stop the train.After the train was halted, railway staff pulled Bholwani out. A railway doctor examined him and declared him dead, officials said. The incident caused panic among passengers on the platform.GRP in-charge Amarendra Kotwar said, “An inquiry was under way. The body was sent for postmortem.”Bholwani’s nephew Anil Kumar Kulvadwa said they were travelling from Maharashtra to Gaya for the rituals. “He had stepped off the train at Bokaro station to buy water when the train started moving. While attempting to board it again with the bottle, he slipped and fell between the train and platform,” he said.
