Godda: Police arrested a 40-year-old man within 24 hours for allegedly shooting a villager over a land dispute and personal rivalry in Godda district on Sunday evening, it announced on Tuesday.The accused, identified as Santosh Mandal alias Guddu Mandal, a resident of Gangta Fasia under Motia OP, opened fire at Anil Mandal (48) at Futani Chowk when the latter was returning home after closing his shop.Godda SDPO Akash Bhardwaj said, “The accused attacked Anil to kill following a long-standing dispute over land and personal enmity. A case was lodged on Sept 14 for further action and was sent to judicial custody on Tuesday.”During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed the location of the weapon used in the crime. Police recovered a country-made pistol and two cartridges from a spot identified by him. The accused was sent to judicial custody on Tuesday, police said.
