Patna: A six-year-old boy was allegedly killed by his father over the marital dispute in Kadirganj police station area of Nawada district on Monday. The accused, who has been absconding since the incident, allegedly slit the child’s throat before fleeing, police said. A search operation has been launched to trace him.The victim, Aazad Kumar, was the only son of Sudhir Goswami and Munni Devi of Andar Bazaar. The couple also has three daughters.According to police, Sudhir allegedly attacked Aazad with a sharp-edged weapon while the child was playing around 10am. The boy died on the spot, after which the accused fled. They are also probing whether the crime was linked to an ongoing marital dispute between the couple.Munni Devi alleged that her husband had neglected the family for years and frequently assaulted her under the influence of alcohol. She said she single-handedly supported the family by selling bangles, sindoor and cosmetics in villages.She further alleged that recurring domestic disputes had forced her to take shelter at her parental home in Jehanabad several times. About two months ago, she had again left home following an assault.According to Munni, a compromise was reached between the couple two to three days ago in the presence of Dial-112 police personnel, following which Sudhir took Aazad with him.Following the incident, Kadirganj police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Evidence was also collected from the crime scene.Kadirganj SHO Awadh Kishor Prasad said an FIR had been registered against the accused. “Raids are being conducted continuously to arrest the absconding accused,” he said. Police said further investigation is underway.
