Man trampled to death by elephants in Giridih
According to village mukhiya, Tikait Rajmani Singh, a herd of elephants had been camping in the forests of Jaridih since Monday morning

Bokaro: A 42-year-old man was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants at Jaridih village under Birni block of Giridih, officials said on Tuesday.Divisional forest officer of Giridih West, Ankit said that the deceased was identified as Upendra Yadav. He had allegedly moved dangerously close to the elephants inside the forest when the agitated herd attacked him. The elephants remained around the body for nearly three hours, preventing villagers and officials from retrieving it.According to village mukhiya, Tikait Rajmani Singh, a herd of elephants had been camping in the forests of Jaridih since Monday morning. The forest department had repeatedly warned residents not to approach the animals, but many ignored the advisories.Several villagers, including those carrying small children on their shoulders, allegedly went close to the elephants to watch them and click photographs. Yadav also reached near the elephants on his motorcycle. The sudden movement provoked the herd, which attacked him and trampled him to death.
