Rajesh Kumar Pandey | TNNDumka: Armed robbers allegedly looted cash and jewellery worth several lakh rupees from a jewellery shop near Kargil Chowk in the heart of Godda town on Wednesday evening, escaping on a motorcycle after opening fire to terrorise people and prevent resistance.The incident occurred after 7 pm in the busy market area amid rainfall. According to shop owner Basudev Rai, three masked men arrived on a motorcycle without a registration number. One stayed outside the entrance while two entered the shop, pointed a pistol at him and looted around Rs 6 lakh in cash along with gold ornaments at gunpoint.Local residents alleged the criminals fired three shots inside the shop and another four to five rounds in the air, before escaping towards Pirpainti road.Police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the shop and nearby establishments captured the suspects’ movement, and police are analysing it.“A search operation is underway to trace and arrest the robbers,” Godda SP Mukesh Kumar said. The exact value of the stolen jewellery is yet to be officially assessed.
