Mumbai: A case of ‘attempt to commit murder’ was registered against a motorist after he tried to run over a petrol pump staffer with his car, dragging him for a short distance before hitting a few other vehicles at a petrol pump in Borivali East late Sunday. Kasturba Marg police have detained him and sent him for a medical examination.Police said the motorist, B Dube, had an altercation with a supervisor at the petrol pump after being asked not to light a cigarette. Further investigations showed Dube harboured a grudge against the supervisor for getting his brother fired from his job at the petrol pump the previous month. The duo had a heated exchange of words which was captured on CCTVs. Thereafter, Dube got into the car and tried to run over the supervisor. The supervisor held on to the bonnet of the vehicle and got dragged for a short distance. Dube also hit a few other vehicles at the pump.The Kasturba Marg police was informed and Dube was detained. Officials said the medical examination will show whether he was inebriated.Dube works at an automobile showroom and the car used in the offence belongs to him. An FIR was registered against him on Monday.
