NDRF team saves three from drowning in Ganga

Patna: The NDRF team deployed at Bhadra Ghat in Patna City saved two minor children and their grandmother from drowning while they were taking a bath in the Ganga river on the occasion of Shrawan puja on Friday.Due to a strong current in the river, the children drifted into deep water and started drowning. Seeing them, their grandmother entered the river to rescue them, but she too got trapped.NDRF inspector Pramod Kumar said, “Ruby Devi (53), a resident of Beur locality, had come to Bhadra Ghat with her eight-year-old grandson Ankush Kumar and 10-year-old granddaughter Anushka Kumari for bathing in the Ganga river. After taking a bath, Ruby was performing puja at the ghat. In the meantime, both children went into the river to bathe.”The children could not keep their balance in the strong river current and got trapped in deep water. Seeing this, Ruby also went into the water, but soon lost her balance.The NDRF team deployed at the ghat spotted the three in distress. Led by NDRF inspector Pramod, the personnel immediately launched a rescue operation and safely pulled all three out of the Ganga. After the rescue, the condition of the children and their grandmother was normal. NDRF handed over both children to their father Rakesh Manjhi. Timely action saved three lives.
