Nishant shifts to new residence, Nitish attends house-warming

Patna: Health minister Nishant Kumar on Monday moved into his newly allotted official residence at 5, Deshratna Marg, a prominent govt bungalow in the state capital traditionally earmarked for Bihar’s deputy chief minister.The building construction department recently allotted the bungalow to Nishant, son of JD(U) president Nitish Kumar. A house-warming ceremony was held on the occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima, on the premises on Monday. Close relatives attended the rituals, while Nitish also reached the bungalow and took part in the function, a JD(U) functionary said. Nitish stayed for about 10 minutes before returning to his official residence at 7, Circular Road.Nishant confirmed the shifting while talking to reporters after the ceremony. “I have now moved to my newly allotted official bungalow. The ‘grih pravesh’ ceremony was held today. Family members, including my father, attended the puja performed as part of the ceremony,” he said.The 5, Deshratna Marg bungalow has housed several high-profile politicians in recent years. It was last occupied by Samrat Choudhary during his tenure as deputy chief minister before he shifted to the chief minister’s official residence at Lok Sewak Awas. RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav also lived there earlier when RJD was part of the govt and he was deputy chief minister.
