Ranchi: Nearly 6.62 lakh electors have been listed as deceased, and another 8.07 lakh are untraceable or absent under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state, according to Election Commission data compiled till 6 pm on Saturday.With the enumeration phase set to end on July 29, over 30.3 lakh enumeration forms have not been received back across the state. Of Jharkhand’s 2.64 crore registered electors, 2.13 crore have so far submitted filled and signed forms that have been digitised, making them eligible for inclusion in the draft roll scheduled for publication on Aug 5.The exercise has also identified 12.2 lakh electors as permanently shifted and 3.2 lakh as enrolled elsewhere.

Another 20,812 voters refused to sign their forms. Together, these categories could lead to a substantial reduction in the draft roll, though officials said the final numbers would emerge only after enumeration ends.Ranchi district alone accounts for 79,382 electors listed as dead and 2,31,642 recorded as untraceable or absent. Besides, 97,140 have been identified as permanently shifted and 34,436 as enrolled elsewhere, including in other districts. As many as 4,44,985 forms have been categorised as “uncollectable,” while 2,385 electors fall under “others,” which includes foreigners and those refusing to fill forms.“Voters under these categories will not feature in the draft roll,” chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar told TOI, adding that the exact figure would be known after its publication.Kumar on Saturday directed officials to complete all enumeration-related work by July 29. “Jharkhand electors found registered in another state may submit Form 8 and a declaration if they want their names transferred to the state’s roll,” he said.He also ordered prompt resolution of complaints lodged through the 1950 helpline and ECINET’s ‘Book a call’ facility, followed by callbacks to confirm resolution.Enumeration has been completed in Koderma, Chaibasa, Majhgaon, Jagannathpur, Manoharpur, Chakradharpur and Kolebira assembly constituencies. Officials in the remaining seats have been asked to intensify verification and form collection before the deadline.
