PPU academic council approves AI course, PhD viva reforms

Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) approved several academic and administrative proposals at its 20th academic council meeting chaired by vice-chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh on Saturday.Registrar Abu Bakar said the council ratified decisions taken at its previous meeting and approved the formation of a two-member study leave committee to examine faculty study leave applications.The council also cleared a proposal to conduct PhD viva voce examinations at the university headquarters with a recording provision to enhance transparency and accountability in the evaluation process.In another key decision, PPU approved the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) studies at the degree level at A N College, Patna, from the 2026-27 academic session.Bakar said the decisions reflect the university’s efforts to strengthen academic governance and align courses with emerging educational needs.The council members and university officials also congratulated the VC on completing one year in office, during which the university ensured timely completion of examinations and publication of results, he added.
