Probe ordered after obscene graffiti found on Latehar school wall

Daltonganj: Unidentified miscreants allegedly painted obscene graffiti on the boundary wall of a govt school in Latehar town, prompting the district administration and police to order an inquiry.Latehar district superintendent of education Gautam Kumar Sahu said on Tuesday that objectionable graffiti was found at several places on the school premises. The school authorities have been directed to cooperate with police in identifying those responsible and remove the graffiti.SDPO Sandip Kumar Gupta said Latehar police station officer in-charge Ashok Paswan had been asked to conduct a detailed inquiry.Paswan, who inspected the school on Tuesday morning, said staff spotted the graffiti on Monday when the institution reopened after Sunday. However, the school management neither submitted a written complaint nor informed police orally, he said.The vandalism is suspected to have occurred on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The miscreants also allegedly damaged flower pots and a cement bench on the campus.Gupta said criminal elements had been warned against indulging in vandalism or indecent activities within or around the co-educational institution. Attempts to contact school officials for comment were unsuccessful.
