Patna: Patna University (PU) colleges on Monday organised induction meet on their respective campuses for their newly admitted undergraduate students in the current academic session (2026-27). The main purpose of organising this meet was to help newcomers acclimatise to the new academic environment and develop a bond with fellow students and teachers. The classes of the new batch will start on Tuesday.In the induction meet, students were apprised of the history and culture of the institution, various facilities available on the campus and about the courses and faculty members.At Patna College, the oldest institution of higher education in the state, the induction meet was held at the college seminar hall in which 150 freshers participated. College principal Anil Kumar presided over the meet.PU students’ welfare dean Kameshwar Pandit and heads of different undergraduate and postgraduate departments addressed the students and apprised them of the glorious history and tradition of this institution. Students were also told about the culture and discipline of the college.At the Magadh Mahila College induction meet, principal N P Verma told the students to remain disciplined and follow the rules and regulations of the institution. The college teachers were ever ready to solve their academic problems, he said.Newly admitted commerce students were seen in full attendance at the induction meet held at Vanijya Mahavidyalaya. College principal Suheli Mehta told the newcomers about the facilities like hostel, library and common room available in the institution.Induction meets were also organised for the newly admitted students at Patna Science College and B N College under the chairmanship of Alka and Raj Kishor Prasad respectively. In some colleges, guardians of students also accompanied their wards at the meet.Meanwhile, PU on Monday published the results of entrance tests for admission to various undergraduate courses under self-financed scheme. The counselling and admission of successful students will be held in different colleges from July 7 to 10, said the dean of students’ welfare.
