Ramgarh civil court receives bomb threat letter; security tightened, no explosives found

Ramgarh: Security was tightened at the Ramgarh civil court after authorities received a letter warning of a bomb attack on the court premises. The letter, written in Bengali and sent by a person from West Bengal, claimed that some people were hatching a “serious secret plan” to attack the court with a bomb. The sender also attached a copy of his Aadhaar card to establish his identity and said he was helping authorities prevent a major criminal conspiracy.Ramgarh superintendent of police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said police took the threat seriously and immediately searched the court building and campus for explosives. The premises were sanitised and additional security personnel deployed. Ramgarh SDPO Alok Ranjan was assigned to monitor security arrangements at the court.“No explosive, firearm or bomb was found in the court,” Lunayat said, adding that the threat appeared to be fake and could have been issued out of personal enmity or as retaliation against someone.Police have intensified checking and taken precautionary measures to prevent any possible conspiracy, the SP said. Officials added that other district courts had earlier received similar threats to bomb their premises. Security personnel remained on high alert across the court campus following the warning.
