Ranchi DC warns BLOs, supervisors over negligence in SIR work

Ranchi: Ranchi district election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri on Friday warned that “negligence at any level in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work will not be tolerated”, and said lawful action as per rules will be ensured against such officers and employees.The action process began after some booth level officers (BLO) and BLO supervisors were identified for negligence in SIR work in the district, an official statement said adding that suspension, legal action and departmental proceedings are possible against such BLOs and BLO supervisors.Bhajantri issued the warning while reviewing enumeration form distribution, collection and digitisation under the ongoing SIR exercise in his office at the collectorate, it said.It was attended by the electoral registration officers (EROs) of all assembly constituencies in Ranchi district, district deputy election officer and other officers.During the review, the DC directed time-bound compliance with instructions issued by Ranchi chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar.He asked all BLOs in urban areas to accelerate distribution, collection and digitisation of enumeration forms. Computer operators and BLO supervisors should support BLOs to increase the pace of digitisation, Bhajantri added.Officials reported that 15,69,153 forms (58.67%) had been distributed in Ranchi district, while 3,49,404 forms (13.06%), had been digitised.Bhajantri told EROs and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) to monitor the progress closely and remove bottlenecks so that SIR targets are achieved within the prescribed timeline.He also directed all EROs and AEROs to ensure a booth-level meeting-cum-electoral workshop of BLOs for absent, shifted or dead/duplicate (ASDD) list on July 14, 2026.The DC said accountability would be fixed at every level, and officers supervising the work must ensure daily follow-up, accurate data entry and timely reporting. He instructed officials to treat the revision work as a priority official duty.
