Ranchi: The fifth mid-term conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), organised under the aegis of the Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society, began on Friday, bringing more than 1,000 ophthalmologists from the state and across India to Ranchi.Jharkhand health minister Irfan Ansari and the health department’s additional commissioner inaugurated the event. Ansari said hosting the national-level conference was a matter of pride for Jharkhand and reflected its growing scientific and academic capabilities. “Such an event in a mid-tier city would allow doctors and young researchers to learn from experts and gain exposure to the latest research, technologies and treatment methods,” he said.He called AIOS’s academic equity initiative vital for equal opportunities in medical education, scientific research and knowledge-sharing across regions. Ansari reiterated the govt’s commitment to integrating artificial intelligence, robotic surgery and modern health technologies into healthcare services. He said national and international academic events would encourage research, innovation and continuous medical education, helping improve healthcare quality in the state.
