Ranchi: Street vendors will soon get another dedicated vending zone near the registry office in Morabadi, which is coming up at a cost of Rs 3.26 crore. On Tuesday, RMC commissioner Sushant Gaurav inspected the under-construction site, which is being developed as part of the objective to clear footpaths and streamline street vending. Once ready, it will be able to accommodate 205 street vendors.Gaurav said, “The aim is to create modern vending zones that will serve as a new hallmark for the city, delivering superior amenities to residents while ensuring a respectable livelihood for vendors.”The upcoming site will get civic infrastructure, including drinking water connections, modern toilet blocks, wide pedestrian pathways, efficient drainage systems, rainwater harvesting units, decorative landscaping, electrical connection and a guard room.Gaurav instructed that adjacent vacant govt land be integrated into the site to build an all-inclusive corridor featuring culverts, boundary walls, parking spaces and vibrant green patches.The commissioner also visited a prospective vending zone in Pandra and directed officials to urgently prepare a detailed project report (DPR) to rehabilitate hundreds of vendors who line the road between OTC Ground and Pandra Friends Colony.He also reviewed the temporary vending facility established near Tagore Hill, where around 250 vendors evicted from Morabadi Ground are presently conducting business across 45 decimals of govt land.While directing team members to maintain daily sanitation, install high-mast lights and clear surrounding encroachments, Gaurav reiterated that civic standards must remain uncompromised even at temporary locations.
