KOLKATA: Cops have issued a traffic advisory announcing major road closures, parking restrictions, and vehicular diversions across central Kolkata on Monday in connection with the state’s planned ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally that will be attended by CM Suvendu Adhikari. Traffic movement across key stretches surrounding the Maidan and adjoining commercial corridors will be regulated or closed to vehicular movement until noon.Major thoroughfares designated for closures include Red Road, Mayo Road, J L Road, Kingsway, R R Avenue, Plassey Gate Road, Cathedral Road, Queensway, Kidderpore Road, Lovers Lane, and Casuarina Avenue. No goods vehicles will be allowed entry in these areas.In addition to traffic closures, cops have declared strict parking prohibitions starting from midnight until the conclusion of the event. Parking will be banned along Kingsway, Auckland Road, R R Avenue, Plassey Gate Road, Mayo Road, J L Nehru Road, Cathedral Road, Queensway, Dufferin Road, Casuarina Avenue, and designated portions of Strand Road between IRTP and Auckland Road, with exemptions provided only for authorized vehicles carrying program participants.Traffic police personnel on duty may also implement real-time diversions on connecting arterial and feeder roads based on ground conditions. “Commuters traveling through central Kolkata during the morning hours are advised to plan their travel schedules in advance and use alternative routes to prevent delays,’ said a DCP.
