Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday inaugurated the Karbigahiya-Mithapur flyover and opened a 2.1-km section of the Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun elevated road project, aimed at easing congestion and improving connectivity on one of Patna’s busiest traffic corridors.The Rs 249-crore flyover, along with its approach and service roads, connects Mithapur Bus Stand with Mithapur Golambar via the newly developed Karbigahiya Golambar. Choudhary inaugurated the project by unveiling a plaque and cutting a ribbon.He also inaugurated the Mithapur-Sipara stretch of the larger Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun elevated corridor.According to a communiqué issued by the chief minister’s office, the projects will streamline traffic movement on the Mithapur-Sipara route and provide significant relief to daily commuters.Following the inauguration, the chief minister inspected the flyover and reviewed traffic arrangements and commuter facilities in the area.Choudhary said the Karbigahiya-Mithapur flyover would improve access to Patna railway station and enhance connectivity for people travelling to and from Mithapur Bus Stand and adjoining localities. He added that commuters heading towards Punpun through the elevated road would also benefit from faster travel.Describing the projects as important additions to the city’s infrastructure, he said they would ease traffic pressure on key routes and ensure smoother and safer movement across the state capital.The newly opened 2.1-km Mithapur-Sipara section is part of the larger Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun elevated corridor, which is expected to improve connectivity to NH-22, linking Patna with Jehanabad, Gaya, Bodh Gaya and parts of Jharkhand.Officials said the corridor would help commuters bypass railway crossings and congested surface roads, reducing travel time on the stretch from nearly an hour during peak traffic to about 10 minutes. It is also expected to cut the Patna-Gaya travel time to around 1.5 hours.
