Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday inaugurated several health facilities, including a district drug warehouse, at the newly constructed building of Guru Gobind Singh Hospital (District Hospital) in Patna City. He unveiled the plaque and later inspected various sections of the facility.During the visit, Choudhary reviewed patient care arrangements, interacted with patients and doctors, and sought details from officials about the services being provided. He directed authorities to ensure timely availability of doctors and medical services so that patients do not have to be referred elsewhere for treatment.Inspecting the orthopaedic operation theatre, the CM asked doctors to strengthen orthopaedic services and develop the department as a key speciality of the hospital. Choudhary also inaugurated 105 ICU beds, 70 Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) beds and 24×7 emergency services at district hospitals across the state.He launched the first phase of free pathology services in govt health institutions under the hub-and-spoke model through a public-private partnership. The initiative includes 11 hub laboratories equipped with testing facilities and 221 linked spoke centres that will function as sample collection units. Officials said the system will improve access to quality diagnostic services and ensure timely delivery of test reports.The CM also launched free dialysis services in 25 sub-divisional hospitals. “The facility will be available free of cost to priority household and Ayushman card holders, while other patients can avail of the service at concessional rates. The initiative is expected to benefit kidney patients and reduce the need for travel outside their districts for treatment,” he said.Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said the state govt’s objective is to provide timely, quality and modern healthcare to every citizen. He said Bihar is expanding health infrastructure and strengthening services through modern technology, better medical equipment, trained manpower and improved facilities.The CM also paid respects to the Khanda Sahib installed on the hospital premises by the Prabandhak Committee of Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib.
