Patna: A director of a private residential school in Jamui’s Town police station area has been accused by hostel students of inappropriate behaviour inside his office.The allegations surfaced after some hostel students reportedly informed their families about the alleged incidents, following which several parents reached the school on Sunday and created a commotion. A Dial-112 police team subsequently reached the institution and took the director, Ashish Singh, to Town police station for questioning.Police said statements of the students, other hostel students and hostel employees would be recorded as part of the investigation.One of the students alleged that Singh had called her to his office on the pretext of counselling her over her communication with a boy. She claimed that she was alone in the office when the alleged incident took place.According to the student, “The director hugged me and touched my body while explaining different parts of the human body.” She further alleged that he spoke to her about sex and pregnancy during the interaction.Family members who reached the institution said they initially faced difficulty meeting the director and their daughter. They alleged that the hostel gate had been locked and that they were kept waiting before being allowed to meet the student.The family said the girl subsequently narrated the alleged incident to them. “Our daughter told us that she used to talk to a boy. The director called her to his office to counsel her about it. She told us that he first hugged her and then touched her body. He also spoke to her about sex and pregnancy and touched different parts of her body while explaining them,” the family alleged.Another student has also reportedly made allegations about the director’s conduct, claiming that his behaviour towards several girls had been inappropriate.Jamui SDPO Dipti Monali said an FIR had been registered based on the students’ statements. “Every aspect is being investigated on the basis of the girls’ statement and the available evidence. Hostel employees and other students connected with the matter will also be questioned. Strict action will be taken according to law on the basis of the facts that emerge during the investigation,” she said.The school director, Ashish Singh, denied the allegations. “All the allegations made against me are completely false. Children are counselled to maintain discipline in the school. Some people have made false allegations against me as part of a well-planned conspiracy to damage the reputation of the school. I have not done anything wrong,” he said.Town police station SHO Amarendra Kumar said the matter was under investigation. He added that police would question the students and hostel staff before deciding the further course of action.
