Shrawani Mela: Railways to run 12 pairs of special trains

Patna: In view of the expected heavy rush of pilgrims visiting the famous Baba Baidyanath Temple at Deoghar during the monthlong Shrawani Mela beginning from July 30, the railways will run 12 pairs of special trains either originating from or passing through different stations under the East Central Railway (ECR).The special trains have been planned to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees, particularly ‘kanwariyas’ during the annual religious fair. The special passenger train services will connect several important destinations in Bihar, Jharkhand, and neighbouring states to Deoghar and other pilgrimage centres.According to ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, the Jaynagar-Asansol will be operated from July 31 to Aug 31. “The Raxaul-Deoghar will run from July 31 to August 30, departing from Raxaul every Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday,” he said, adding that the Raghopur-Deoghar has been scheduled from July 28 to August 31 and will operate daily. Similarly, the Danapur-Sahibganj will run from August 2 to 30, leaving Danapur every Sunday.Likewise, the Patna-Islampur has already been introduced from July 26 and will continue till Sept 29. “The Howrah-Natesar will also remain in service till Sept 30,” the CPRO said.Besides these trains, the railways will operate the Ranchi-Bhagalpur, followed by Itwari-Madhupur, Barhni-Deoghar, Asansol-Gorakhpur and Patna-Asansol daily.
