Ranchi: As the July 29 deadline for the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls approaches, Jharkhand has covered 97.81% of its electorate, with forms made available to 2,58,82,942 voters, chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar said on Sunday.Kumar said booth level officers (BLOs) are visiting voters door to door and distributing enumeration forms across the state. He urged the remaining voters to contact their respective BLOs, fill in the forms and submit them within the stipulated time.The CEO said Jharkhand was on course to complete the exercise within the deadline and did not need to seek an extension, unlike some other states. The enumeration process began on June 30. “There is no need for seeking a date extension,” he said.Kumar also appealed to voters who have received their forms to submit the filled and signed copies to their BLOs at the earliest. This, he said, would help complete preparation of the ASDD list and digitisation work on time. Officials said that 67% of the filled and signed enumeration forms submitted by voters have already been digitised.The CEO said the third meeting of BLOs and BLA-2, along with ‘Chunav Pathshala’, would be organised at every polling station on July 22.However, he said the pace of filling and submission of forms by urban voters was slow. To improve participation and assist remaining voters, special camps will be held on Monday at all urban polling stations in the state. Voters can submit their forms at the camps, while those who have not received forms can collect them there. Similar camps were organised on Saturday.Deputy commissioner and district election officer Manjunath Bhajantri said the SIR exercise in Ranchi assembly constituency showed improvement. He said digitisation of enumeration forms in the constituency rose from 29.86% at 6 am on Saturday to 35.05% at 6 am on Sunday.Officials said the focus in the remaining days would be on improving urban response and ensuring timely completion of digitisation.
