State rights are like veshti, we wear it as our life's core principle: Stalin

TIRUPATTUR: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin questioned the dignity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office, accusing him of targeting the state with “unverified data.”Speaking at a public meeting seeking votes for the INDIA bloc candidates in Tirupattur, Stalin said the public views the 2026 assembly elections as a “Thanksgiving festival” for the successes of the Dravidian Model.Responding to the Prime Minister’s recent social media post criticising DMK’s administration, Stalin was blunt. “Should a person in the high office of Prime Minister speak against a state without reading the data? Is this graceful for the post he holds?” Stalin asked.

He challenged the Prime Minister to look at the Union govt’s economic survey and observations from international bodies like the UN before making allegations. “We wouldn’t care if a BJP member speaks like this. But the Prime Minister belongs to all states. Do not weigh Tamil Nadu down based on a few ‘slaves’ who bow before you in Delhi,” he added.Stalin termed the Parliament’s special session on constituency delimitation a “fascist conspiracy” to punish states that successfully implemented population control. “I have directed all our MPs to go to Delhi immediately to fight this. If you pass this against our will, you will see a different face of the DMK. State rights are like the ‘veshti’ (garment) we wear; it is our life’s core principle. We will not allow Tamil Nadu’s voice to be stifled,” Stalin declared.Stalin said the DMK is the only shield against the “mortgaging of Tamil Nadu to Delhi.” “We will break our own records in the 2.0 govt. This is Stalin’s guarantee,” he promised.
