Patna: RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday alleged the involvement of an NDA MLA in the murder of Dehri-Dalmianagar Nagar Parishad executive officer (EO) Vimal Kumar and demanded a fair investigation into the case.Addressing reporters here, Tejashwi cited the statement of the deceased officer’s wife and alleged that the killing was linked to an extortion demand.“The deceased EO’s wife has alleged that an MLA used to call every day demanding Rs50 lakh in extortion and threatened to kill him if the money was not paid,” he said.Earlier in the day, Tejashwi spoke to the officer’s wife over the phone and assured her that the RJD would raise the issue and seek justice. “We are with you and will also come to meet you,” he told her.Tejashwi also questioned the course of the investigation, alleging that attempts were being made to divert the case even before the postmortem report was available. He also questioned the presence of a senior police officer at the spot before the district SP arrived and demanded that an FIR be registered against the MLA he referred to.The allegations made by Tejashwi and the deceased officer’s family could not be independently verified. There was no immediate response from the BJP or the state govt to the allegations.
