Bokaro: Authorities released water from six radial gates of Tenughat Dam on Thursday as continuous rainfall in the catchment area pushed officials to regulate the reservoir level, even as the district administration intensified preparedness following an IMD yellow alert for heavy rain at isolated places.The reservoir level stood at 847.75 ft on Thursday morning and showed a declining trend. Till 6 am, around 9,710 cusecs (274.9 cumecs) of water was being discharged into Damodar river. The dam’s catchment area recorded 82 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.Deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha has directed all departments to remain on alert, keep quick response teams ready and ensure prompt rescue and relief measures. The district control room has been put on standby for round-the-clock operations in case weather conditions worsen, while departments and circle offices have been asked to coordinate closely.BSL, Chas Municipal Corporation and Phusro Nagar Parishad have been directed to deploy ward-level teams to tackle waterlogging. Health authorities have been asked to maintain adequate stocks of medicines, including anti-venom, while schools and anganwadi centres have been told to identify structural risks and shift children to safer buildings if required.
